Knowledge in Islam is an invaluable means of man's individual and collective spiritual fulfilment and happiness.The awesome responsibility of its pursuit and the high ranks reserved for its posessors made it a driving force of Islamic civilisation wherever it spread. In this presentation we will discuss the definitions of knowledge in Islam, the channels through which knowledge is acquired, and oppositional attitudes towards knowledge that must be overcome in order to restore its proper place and function.
