The universal character of knowledge In Islam encompassing all aspects of life requires  a system of order and discipline for its effective dissemination. From the days of the Prophet various institutions were founded for this purpose from the Masjid, the madrasah to the modern Islamic university. In this discussion we will outline the central ideas that make up the Islamic university and how it is translated in living form.
